2012 Worlds Longest Soccer Game

A group of players mostly from Sherwood Park and the Edmonton area will try to capture the Guinness World Record for the Longest Soccer Game on June 28th until July 1st, 2012 as part of a charity soccer game for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
The group of women and men will play continuously for 66 hours to achieve the Guinness World Record. Many of the players have family members who have battled cancer in the past.

The game will take place at Strathcona Athletic Park (just off Clover Bar Road at Foxhaven Drive) in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. The game will start at 5:00pm on Thursday June 28th, 2012 and will run continuously for 66 hours, finishing at 11:00am on Sunday July 1st.

The general public is welcome to attend to watch this historic event and donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation can be made in person at that time or online at the Alberta Cancer Foundation website. The players goal is to raise $100,000 to be used towards a new PET/CT scanner at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.
